About

Run All the Miles is more than just a coaching service. It is my passion to empower and encourage runners of all levels to run stronger, faster, and reduce injury while enjoying the sport to the fullest. Running done right is FUN and brings sense of accomplishment. I love sharing this with others.

About the Coach

I’m Kristen – distance runner of over 22 years and Physical Therapist of over 10 years.

I started distance running freshman year of high school, running Cross Country and distance Track each year. When I started, I struggled to run one mile at a time! But after a couple years, I experienced the improvement that comes with hard work and consistent running. I was hooked! I especially enjoyed longer runs, trail runs, and the variety of courses in Cross Country. I had the privilege of running with great teammates and coaches. By Junior/Senior year I got to compete in Section and State Championships with my team. I also participated and coached in summer running camp at Humboldt State. Fun times!

After high school, I briefly ran for the San Diego State Cross Country team. I unfortunately became injured and burned out. But this led me to becoming a Physical Therapist and learning how to train smarter, so it all worked out! I transitioned to running Half Marathons and Marathons with the San Diego Track Club and Aztec Rec Running groups. Throughout the years, I gained experience running and racing many different distances and events: 1 mile, 2 miles, 3ks, 5ks (PR 20:07), 10ks, 12ks (PR 53:58), 15ks, 10 milers, Half Marathons (over 45, PR 1:37), Marathons (6, PR 3:49), relay races (Ragnar), obstacle/mud runs (Rugged Maniac, Spartan), trail races, and everything in between. Over the last 6 years I have learned to run during pregnancy, postpartum, and as a mom of 2 littles. Motherhood and stroller running is a whole new adventure! I love the different challenge that each running distance and phase of life brings! I’m now entering my “comeback” phase and I’m determined and excited to break those personal records I set in my late teens and early 20s! Here we go!

Along with my own experience as a distance runner and a coach, my education has helped me understand the science behind running. I have a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness, Nutrition, & Health from San Diego State University, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of St. Augustine. My education has helped me understand the anatomy, physiology, and research behind running, training, and injury prevention. I am able to effectively incorporate strength training which is SO important for runners to improve and reduce injury. I also completed a Yoga Teacher Training course, so I can incorporate yoga for cross training and injury prevention. Stretching, balance, range of motion, and breathing technique can be vital components of a well balanced training plan. I enjoy keeping up on the latest running books and research so I can pass this knowledge along to my athletes!

Outside of running and Physical Therapy, I love spending time with my husband and 2 kids. We enjoy hiking/camping/playing at parks here in the Pacific Northwest, going to Church, and laughing with our kids!

Thank you SO much for supporting me and my family through Run All the Miles!
